I've been playing with something new lately. Well, it's new to me anyway, and I really have no idea why it took me quite so long.....
Anyway, one of my loves - other than creating gemstone jewellery - is crocheting. My mother taught me how to crochet when I was very young. Over the years it has become like therapy to me. I often use it to meditate - to simply "be" with the flow of the hook, as the stitches grow and create something new.
You may know that a while ago I started experimenting with wire wrapping. Last week I decided that I would take wire wrapping a stage further and crochet with it to see how it would turn out.
I started with simple beading wire - a much less expensive practice material in case of mistakes. This is how it turned out, using simple crochet stitches and some gemstone beads!
I then moved to actual wire. Here is a work in progress using Tunisian crochet in gold coloured copper wire, incorporating Garnet and Moonstone chip beads, along with some Swarovski crystals. It started out as a practice piece but I was so happy with it I kept going........
..... until it turned into a cuff bracelet. There is approximately 10 metres of wire in this!! It was very challenging, but so rewarding to complete. I am very happy with how it turned out.
Then, one of my customers (who had seen my first attempt with beading wire) requested I make her a sterling silver wire crochet bracelet, with Turquoise and Moonstone beads. This is the bracelet I created for her.
Since then, I've also been playing with different ideas, like this three tone wire crochet bracelet (which is now available to order), using a basic crochet chain stitch for each of the three rows. I used three different wires here: - gold coloured copper, sterling silver, and rose gold coloured copper.
Some Crochet Jewellery is now available on the website. More will be added soon, so if you don't see what you want, let me know as they are always available as custom orders.
Blessings,
Caryl ♥
