Over the years, Charms Of Light has been proud to serve customers across Europe.  However, with the recent implementation of the European Union's General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), I have been compelled to make a difficult decision.

The GPSR, which comes into effect on 13th December 2024, introduces stringent new requirements for product safety and compliance across the EU.  While the intent behind these rules is commendable — enhancing consumer protection and ensuring that all products meet a high standard of safety — the practical implications for small and medium-sized businesses like ours are significant.

The GPSR mandates comprehensive documentation, new testing protocols, and adherence to a host of detailed safety criteria.  It also imposes severe penalties for non-compliance, which raises the stakes for companies attempting to navigate these rules.  Meeting these requirements demands substantial investment in resources, time, and legal expertise.  Unfortunately, these challenges are particularly burdensome for small businesses.

Unfortunately, for Charms Of Light, the GPSR means having to suspend trading with EU countries, including Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Northern Ireland, for the foreseeable future.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all my EU customers for their support over the years.  You are deeply valued and have been an essential part of Charms Of Light's growth.  Hopefully we can return in the future, if a more scalable approach can be found to these regulations.
